hi, i just got DSl, and wanna play against a friend with a cable modem, is it possible to play him one on one? i figure if i go to open location and put in his IP it should work... any thoughts?

Yes - assuming he doesn't have a firewall running (most cable and DSL routers have them built in now). If he does, he'll need to open some ports for you to be able to connect to his UT server.
