Probably not. I bought the game a week after release and no one was playing it. I think any hope for a UT3 community is pretty much doomed at this point. I wish it was thriving, in which case I would be playing it...

I bought the game when it came out and very few people were playing then. I bet now it is probably dead.

Too bad because it was a great game. The problem is that newer games with high system requirements seem to have a hard time catching on because a lot of poeple feel they are at a huge disadvantage when they play online. Luckily, this game has decent bots. I have not played it in forever but I need to get back into games. My 4850 is not really being used.

me too; having skipped all its previous iterations since the ORIGINAL UT, I really liked UT3 when I tried the demo. It was very fun to me. (i know i know, everyone said UT2004 was much better etc etc etc)

Lots of folks still play the Original UT99 and also UT 2004...in fact...more play those two games individually online than play UT3 online. UT3 proved to be an Epic failure because, in spite of its having decent game play, it was given a horrible, consolized user interface and then the game was released as a buggy beta.

Warfare is a fun game and I suppose that people still play it, but I'd say that UT 2004 is the best bet for someone who's new to the game. You can still find populated Onslaught servers during North American prime time and Invasion Monster Hunt RPG can be played 24/7.

Eh, thats too bad. I still play some single player death match when I get a bit tipsy. Overall I like it more than 2004.

There's usually about 250 people online at once, don't believe the gamespy stat counter because I've gone in and told it to show all servers, and counted, and there are never more than 350 players (for instance when the gamespy stats says 500+ players, there might be 350, but when it says there are 350, there are like 150.)

they killed it with the interface, and the lack of gameplay options: deathmatch, (team dm), ctf, (vehicle ctf), warfare (this is just onslaught with a twist), and duel which is 1v1 deathmatch. SO MUCH INNOVATION as you can see.

What is that?

It's like a shooting gallery except the targets will shoot back at you (and make you hide at the higher waves) and it has RPG elements. Each map has 16 waves of progressively harder monsters. The server remembers who you are so that you can have a character that grows over time. As you kill the monsters, you gain experience points and when you level up, you gain stat points that you can use to improve things like health, damage bonus, weapon firing speed, and much more. There are also magic weapons. It's non-competitive and sometimes people try to use teamwork (sharing weapons and making magic weapons for other people) and sometimes people join a voice comm server. It can be a lot of fun once you get into it.

One of the most popular servers has a webpage here: http://www.clandw.com

I use to play hours a day last year on the clandw server. When I bought a new PC and started working fulltime I went back only once.

It was definitely fun and definitely extended the life of the game.

I actually really liked UT3, and when the demo first came out everyone was playing it at LAN parties. However, more popular squad/objective based games such as TF2 and COD4 came out.

I still play it often at mini lan parties I have. The bots are great and while the interface and options blow goats the game is still fun, especially warefare.

I got mine today, and the package looks tampered with. Inside the box there is a wrinkled paper disc sleeve with a DVD key sticker on it, but no disc. The discs are on the spindle on the other side. of the box. The box did not fit the contents and everything was loose inside.
The discs and the DVD-key works fine, so I am not going to complain for $10.

Did anyone else get it like this?

Sounds a little sketchy to me...

It works now but might not work in the future if somebody else gets on with that same cdkey.

I think cheating (botting and hacking) is the reasons for not many people playing the game.

i ordered mine last Friday; usually gogamer is pretty quick with its order (I always get mine in 2 days, since they are based in So Cal and I live like 30 minutes away from where they are), but this time, I still haven't received it. I check the status on their website and it said they are "in progress / sourcing" the game.

got mine today. The box looks a tad bit worn but the CD surface looks fine.
Instead of an actual gaming menu, it has a CD with a PDF version of it. That CD is inside the aforementioned "wrinkled paper disc sleeve with the DVD Key sticker". On the spindle is the Game disc.
