In particular, i want to know if anyone has a similar spec'ed system to the following : socket 754 A64 3200+ 1GB ram and Geforce 6800 Vanilla. I want to purchase that 6800 card for a friend who has that system, but want to know if it would be worth it or not. I would hope this thread would provide a decent benchmark for people who are on the fence on upgrading and want to know other rig's gaming experiences

I'm running on a core2 E6600 7950gt 2gb at 1280x1024 w/ minimum world and texture settings and it's smooth as butter. I bet i can go higher, but I prefer the min world and texture for some reason( it doesn't hurt my eyes)

I played the demo for a while on a 7800gs with a similar processor and it was very playable even at 1680x1050 but with the graphics on low. I could turn them up a bit and lower the res to 1280x1024. I would say it should be fine on a 6800gt/ultra but vanilla is the slow version right? I am guessing 1024x768 might be it for him.

Mines playable at 1680x1050, suprisingly the demo runs better than the full blown product. Everythings set to high and no aa or anything like that. Get around 25-35fps.

I run an A64 3200, 1GB RAM, and a 6600 GT atm. It's decent on low settings, but in heavy firefights it has some lag. Playable.

I have a 3.6ghz E6750 and an older X1900XTX with a minor overclock. The demo runs at a constant 70-80fps or so at 1024x768 on low settings (which I prefer in many multiplayer games anyway) and with the framecap removed.

Runs alright at medium settings @ 1440x900 with
2gb DDR-480
X2 @ 2.6 ghz
X850XT

I think UT2k4 looks and runs better maxed out than UT3 at medium settings with no AA.

UT3 is pretty hard on the CPU as well as the GPU.

A single core is going to be trouble TBH.
Even lower clocked dual cores don't run nearly as well as higher clocks ones.

I would have to describe UT3 as extremely CPU-dependent, just like 2k4 was...even w/ a E6600 @ 3.5 GHz, it was pegging both cores 100% IIRC.
And let me say, the difference between my Opty 165 @ 2.6 GHz vs. E6600 @ 3.5 GHz = massive.

Not saying it won't run on an A64 3200+ w/ a 6800, but it'll be rough, even at lower settings.

Don't have it yet and I want it so bad, it's a christmas gift I know for sure cause I was told not to buy anymore games till after christmas and crysis was on my list :D

So it isn't too bad, been able to catch on a few games that I didn't have time for, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, more time in TF2 :p

Core 2 T7250 (2.0 Ghz) 2GB ram, Vista Premium, 8400GS, 1280x800 15" laptop screen. Can do full res on all low. Mostly stick to 640x480 window all low. Mostly smooth. Seems no matter what res I run it was a little sluggish here and there. But an 8400GS is just about as bad as it can get for new generation not including integrated graphics.

It kind of sucks cause I'm so used to source games I guess. I run HL2 1280x800 all high 4x MSAA 4x AF and it's smooth as butter, yet I'm always disappointed when I go into other games and find myself running 800x600 all low just to make sure it stays smooth.

I can run the beta demo at 1280x800 with everything maxed on my T7500 and Mobile HD2600 with 2 gigs of ram and never get anything below 25fps. Of course then you have to factor in bot count and map size and other things but generally speaking.

I'm preatty curious how the full game runs because if a beta demo works this well the retail game should run even better. Right?

Before my cheap-ass upgrade, I used an A64 3500+ and a 9800pro. It was barely playable, and if you wanted decent FPS (50-60+), forget about it on any settings. I upgraded to an X2 4200 and an x1950pro and now get pretty decent frames (60+ with it uncapped), but there are still hitches.

3800+ x2 dual core
7800GT
1gb ram

1440X900 = not playable
1280X800 = kinda slugish

i'm building a whole new machine for this game though. But the parts are coming from different family members for xmas. Must be a patient little camper. I'm not playing the game until i have a machine that can fully unleash the game. So until now i wait. And i dream of the nights i will frag until the early morn. Because what i've played of this game showed me it was old school bad ass UT action and I love that shit.

AMD AM2 3800x2 overclocked to 2.85 ghz
3 gigs ram
x-fi gamer
8800gts 320 meg

1680x1050 everything maxed runs fine but dips below 40 fps on heavy firefights- turning world detail to middle position '3' and it stays above 50 fps even on large map busy servers

on rig below on demo at 1680x1050 i ran pretty much everything maxed, and it looked friggen great. The game is SO well optimized, a 6800 would be fine.

EDIT; just read the rest of the thread, no one else got the kind of results i did? idk then.....

Q6600 at 3.5Ghz

8800GTX at 674/2200

4Gb of RAM.

Runs perfectly at 1680x1050, with 8x AA and 16x AF, even during firefights. :D
