Unreal Tournament 3 demo video issues

On my second comp, Opteron 146 and 6800GT, there is very weird problem when opening UT3. Once I double click on the game, the computer loses video and my monitor goes into standby. The PC on the other hand is still running. I already installed the latest drivers to it, but to no avail. Any inputs will be appreciated.
