Unreal overheating problems with x800 XT PE. HELP!

So my system, ever since I built the damn thing, has been giving me problems. Whether it was the motherboard BIOS, or the RAM timings, the list goes on. Anyway, I think i've solved every issue pertaining to my motherboard and RAM, but what's this? ANOTHER problem. My videocard is a sapphire Radeon x800 XT PE and this thing heats up like a mother. I Have a PCI slot vent fan that sucks hot air from the card as precaution, and I have my cards heatsink running at 100%, on top of that? I'm downclocking the sucker. Core should be a 520, but I have it at 500. So when I play Counter-Strike:Source, my videocard heats up to 95 degrees Celcius. That's right, CELCIUS. 5 degrees away from boiling point. Sometimes it holds up, and sometimes my system restarts, (I don't know if that is videocard related or not) Any suggestions on what the HELL to do? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks a lot guys.

95c?

my bba x800xt pe idled around the low 30's and load was around 50c. Sounds like you might need to rma it.

You don't have the PCI slot vent fan right in front of the card hsf, do you ???
If your PCI fan is pulling air away from the fan side of the card, your pulling air away from the fan on the X800 !!...Try to mount the PCI slot fan to where it well blow air at the card and see what happens.

Yeah that PCI slot fan is probably not helping to be honest, what you should do is get a normal case fan and face it towards the card.

Send it to me and I'll gladly use it in my water cooled system. Problem solved. 🙂

Seriously though, if you have a PCI slot vent sucking air AWAY from your video card, and the video card fan is trying to blow air TOWARDS the heatsink then the two are fighting each other and you're likely getting very little airflow over the video card heatsink.

Either reverse the airflow of the PCI slot vent so that it's blowing air towards your video card or pull it out of your system entirely and see if your video card temps drop.

Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 (what a horrid piece of...)

LOL. I heard so many problems relating to the original BIOS and they still have a few things they have to iron out with the non Ultra versions. Not exactly an overclockers motherboard.
