Unreal and Unreal Tourney Very,Very Dark. Please Help

Hello,
I've only just got Unreal and Unreal Tournament.

Both of these games are extremely dark,
I cannot see anything even where im going!!
Is the game supposed to be like this?
.... UT is an awesome game even when u cant see it.

Also Unreal (original) doesnt remember my settings!! eg) Vid Resolution etc.

I downloaded Unreal Final 226 Patch
And also have latest V3 3000 Drivers.

Can anyone help me.

Here is my system;
Pentium II 450
96MB SDRAM
3dfx V3 3000 16MB

It's been awhile for Unreal...but in UT, go to preferences. As soon as it pops up, there should be a slider bar for brightness, just move it all the way to the right... I think you can also use a function key... F10 or F11(I forget which one)

There are 10 different brightness settings. IF you type BRIGHTNESS at the console, you can cycle through each one.

I have the same in Unreal on a voodoo 3 2000 pci
before I ran a voodoo banshee that did not run so dark (drak? shade is totally black).

No problems in Unreal Tournament though

You can either change the brightness/gamma in both games, or considering it's dark in BOTH games (and in their defense, they're not supposed to be the brightest of games), you might want to change the gamma for Glide under 3dfx Tools.

I have already posted about this issue twice. The problem is that Unreal doesn't use gamma correction under Glide and it ignores the slider values set in the control panel.

Your only option is to run under Direct 3D to make things brighter, but you will take a performance hit and the textures will be blurier because only Glide supports the LOD bias setting.

Don't bother wasting your time with the control panel sliders because Unreal ignores everything but the Direct 3D gamma setting.

If it is due to glide, howcome my Voodoo 3 in Unreal is darker then my Voodoo Banshee?

I don't know why this is the case. But try the Glide gamma slider and you will find out I am right. Unreal stays dark all the time and only increases in brightness if you use the game slider. Unfortunately the maximum (1) is still too dark.

Like I said before, if you want gamma correction to work you have to run it in Direct 3D. If you do find some way to brighten Glide let me know.

can't you just set the brightness on the monitor up if the gammacorrection/brightness settings in the game doesn't work?

"Unreal stays dark all the time and only increases in brightness if you use the game slider. Unfortunately the maximum (1) is still too dark."

you`re right there. still it is really anying as everything was fine on my banshee.
