I believe we will see more games in UE4 since knowledge of UE3 translates over to the new engine. It is pretty much the industry standard for a games programmer to be versed in UE.
 
I thought it was only recently that they licensed the engine so they could go closed source?
Urban Terror was never open sourced even though it could have been used with the io-quake engine.

The days of playing UT with the -LG- clan. Good times! :awe:
 
does either engine allow free use to indie devs? AKA I download the entire game dev platform for free or a small fee, and work on my own game?

UDK was close to that if not the best that any game software/tools have come.


I'm looking for something new to dabble in. I did q1 brush map editing, Q2, and HL 2 maps. and Doom3 map and coding.
 
The closest to free you will get is $10 per month per user. So if it is just you then crytek will give you the tools for $10/mo. No source code though
