"Who knows what silicon grunt will be required for Unreal Engine 4 games, but we do have some clues for Unreal Engine 3 games like Gears of War. Epic are aiming at the kind of PC they think will be mainstream in 2006. In an interview given last year, Tim Sweeney suggested that a 3.2Ghz processor would a low-end system, and that gamers wanting to play at high detail would need a graphics card with 1GB of memory."

They dont even seem keen on going with 512mb yet. IMHO it's more likely they will go with 512mb cards in 2006, but quite possibly make more utilisation of HyperMemory etc to make decent use of spare system ram where required. I dont think they'll be realistically thinking of anyone having a 1gb graphics card in 2006, more likely they'll put the technology there to make use of it if 1gb cards eventually come out - they'll be selling that engine to other developers for several years.

Well they say the engine scales pretty well. The highest quality and lowest quality can handle 20 times performance difference of machines.
I think 1GB they are refering to highest quality

That game looks stupid anways. but it does have good graphics 🙂 but graphics isnt the game it's the gameplay that is why cs 1.6 is still alive and warcraft 3 and starcraft.
