Unreal 2 objects flashing on and off

I just recently got Unreal 2: The Awakening, and there is a really annoying flashing effect happening in the game. Basically it seems that some objects are appearing and disappearing at random - for example stairs, parts of walls, grass, etc. etc. I have a A64 3200+ with a 6600GT, with all drivers updated. I have also downloaded the latest patches for Unreal 2, and tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0c and the latest video drivers.

Any ideas on what could be going on? Other games seem to be fine (UT 2003, UT 2004, FarCry).

EDIT: System specs
A64 3200+ Claw
DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb
1GB Corsair XMS 3200C2
PNY 6600GT driver ver. 77.72
Enermax Noisetaker 485W
No overclocking.

I edited my original post with my system specs. My CPU temp stays around 40C while in games, system temp a little lower (38ish). I don't know what my video card temps are because it doesn't support temperature monitoring (RivaTuner doesn't display the temperature). I doubt it's temperature related however, as other games are fine (UT 2004 and FarCry for example).

try the drivers before 77.72
It didn't work well with my card... so I went back to the older one and it was flawless 🙂
