It's kinda like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time isn't it?
Take the time to get used to it...you'll thank me. The keyboard/mouse combo is the BEST way to control a first person shooter. If you ever plan on playing another FPS, take the time to learn it...especially in a single player game - set it on easy if you have to. I assure you, you will NEVER be able to play a FPS competitively without the mouse. Any form of deathmatch and you'll get your ass handed to you over and over.
The mouse lets you do two things you can't do with a keyboard: Turn quickly, and aim precisely. The best thing is you can transition from one type of movement to the other easily.
The first two games I ever had were Duke Nukem 3D and Tomb Ho 2 which both used keyboards only. Then I got Jedi Knight and had to learn key/mouse - I fell off the Vertical City quite a few times in the process, but I learned AND got a big jump on the now-standard WASD movement key set.
The key to 3D is the the third "D" - height. Opponents above and below you aren't gonna wait for you to figure how to look up before they rain death down upon you.
