I'm corresponding with a real estate agent about a property I'm interested in. This is how he signs his emails:

Thanx.

I'm not sure if he's trying to be cute or trying to save an extra keystroke or what, but it makes him look like an idiot. I haven't met him yet and now I don't want to. I would never insult myself in a professional email by signing it with that garbage. It takes me extra effort just to type it that way. Jesus, it's just one extra letter.

Why do some people just don't get it?

Ability to spell/communicate professionally is not high on the list of qualities I look for in a real estate agent. "Thanx" isn't very professional but I'd consider it a fairly minor transgression against professionalism. :p You should see some of the emails I get from my undergrad students. :D

Point well taken. In the big scheme of things this is nothing, but my limit for dealing with the idiocy of society has reached its limit today, so I'm venting.
