Unplugging video cooler?

A couple of months ago I bought an Albatron TI 4600, which had a thermaltake video card cooler installed (heatinks on ram, heatsink and fan on gpu). Now this thing is LOUD..it's almost as loud as all of the other fans in my case combined. I also have a pci slot exhaust fan directly underneath the card, so I'm wondering if I would be able to unplug the gpu can without damaging the card.

Anyone ever tried this before, any predictions?

I highly recommend against it. I have never tried it, but I can predict the results. Don't even think about it. You would never unplug the fan on your CPU would you? This is no different.

I was thinking of that, but I really busted my budget with an upgrade last christmas, I won't be able to put any more money towards my comp for a while
🙂

Thermaltake makes copper coolers for GF4 cards. They only cost around $13.00 at CompUSA.

I highly recommend just replacing the one you presently have with one of these.
Installation is a breeze (push-pin)

Thermaltake Linky

CompUSA Linky (look under upgrades -> cooling -> thermaltake

His card has the Thermaltake on it already.

Yeah, I do have the tt cooler, which is what I'm complaining about in the first place 😀

I read some reviews on the zalman though, and it seemed to have been outperformed by the Blue Orb. I used the Blue Orb on my last card, and I wasn't too impressed with it, which leads me to believe that the zalman may not be the best choice

:/

If your Thermaltake cooler (I am assuming you believe you have the same one I mentioned) is loud... it is faulty and needs to be replaced.

(I'm still not sure what in this message was not obvious the first time I posted it)
