Unplug NB fan??

So recently my IS7 mobo's nb fan started to make alot of noise more than it used to. I mean it was extremely annoying, was so loud could hear over all my components in my pc...

So I unpluged it, I was wondering if it is safe to do so? There is air blowing over top of the heatsink of the NB but not directly. My Zalman 7000AlCu generate some moving air. Wondering if it safe to unplug or should I go thru the process of RMA?

I perfer not to RMA becuase i wont have a pc for that period while its sent to the manufactur.

For an NB FAN? You're better off going with a passive solution instead of leaving that off. Don't bother RMAing anyways. There's a Thermaltake (*gasp*) active NB cooler if you experience stability issues with leaving it off/turning on a passive cooler. It's quite a bit bigger than the one you have, and it comes with a fan controller. I hope that helps.
