Unplayable FPS in World at War?

I think my system (in my sig) is pretty decent, I'm used to running games at high settings without any trouble, but CoD: World at War is giving me some problems. Online multiplayer works great, but in single player my FPS drops down to as low as 11. I'm using the latest drivers and I have the game patched to the latest version. All the settings are set to default, except for the resolution which is at 1680x1050. Any idea what might be causing the trouble?

tried disabling AV?
could be related to any other software other than the game or windows itself depending on how you have it setup, how mantained it is..etc.

if your using WHQL certified drivers, try the beta's. if not, then vise versa.

I disabled the AV, turned all the setting to their lowest, and reduced the resolution a few notches but I'm still getting <20 fps. This is a fresh install of Windows 7 RC, it's well maintained; everything is up to date, there's no bloatware, and all the drivers are current. I don't usually keep track of my FPS, but I've never felt my games going slow before.

Could it be Windows 7 that's giving it a problem? I'll switch over to the beta drivers and see if that helps any.

Edit: It's also not my OC, and I'm having trouble finding a beta driver for Windows 7 RC. I think I'll try installing it on Vista.

Edit X2: I turned on CCC and turned all the setting there on low and now I'm getting 70-80 FPS, but with the low settings it looks like a cat turd. I'll tinker with this a bit.

I'm still not sure what it was, but I've got it running well now. I switched some of the settings in CCC, and it worked, so I started putting them back to how I had them one by one to see which messed it up, and they're all as they were and it's still running fine. I now hardly ever dip below forty five, and most of the game is in the 50-80 range.

The second level looks incredible, with all the boats and explosions and stuff. Probably the nicest looking graphics I've seen in any game (I don't play too many new games).

You probably had quality AAA enabled so the game was getting bogged down in areas with heavy vegetation.

I get horrid FPS. Single threaded garbage.

The game is fun though. Quite difficult to get a hang of though.
