In a lawsuit, she said the station's Washington D.C. bureau chief Zhengzhu Liu sexually harassed her after luring her to his hotel room on the pretext that he wanted to talk about her job performance and the possibility of hiring her full time.

When the two were alone, Wang alleged that Liu threw his arms around the then 22-year-old intern, tried to kiss her and "squeezed her buttocks with his left hand." After she refused to let him go any further and left the hotel, she said Liu no longer expressed interest in permanently hiring her.

Okay... then file for simple sexual assault.

what a idiotic ruling.

Unfortunately, it's consistent with law. So, all the states (or the federal government) should get around to passing laws that expand sexual harassment to cover unpaid interns.

It's a damn shame that they aren't already covered. The interns are the ones that are most susceptible to being taken advantage of.

This is retarded. Interns should be paid to start with. Then on top of that the law excludes them from protection because the company is too cheap to pay.

If a company is hiring unpaid interns, they don't value their talent. Don't work for them. There are plenty of top companies that will compensate their talent well.

They are doing tryouts and more top companies do it then others.

maybe i missed it, but is this in the entire US or just New York? They must be so busy protecting people from inanimate objects (guns, sodas, etc) that they aren't protecting them against sexual harassment? lol
