Was going through A BUNCH of junk to throw away and came across a unopened "For distribution with a new Dell PC only" Windows 95 OS with installation CD and boot floppy...anyone here know if its worth anything? Plastic shrink wrap is near open at the top but its all still sealed, unused, and in rather nice condition I must say.

Anyways, anyone know what it could be worth? Also have an opened version of Windows 95 on all floppies too...

Locked because policy here is no price check threads. Plus, you pretty much got your answer already. -Admin DrPizza

So honestly, I think that "for distribution with a new Dell PC only" prohibits you from selling it to someone else? (Or limits you to selling it with the original dell system maybe?)

Anyway, you can look on ebay for completed auctions and see what the trend is. I just picked a low one I found.

It looks like the floppy disc version might actually be worth listing.

Oh, and no price checks :p

I only have bad memories about 95, nothing great with it imo. 98 and 2000 were better. Even dos was better.

I would put it in a time capsule or something.

Well, for me having used Win95 very little (I can remember back in the day as a kid playing Doom and the like on it) it really doesnt hold memories and what not as far as keeping it for any "days of yesteryear" type experiences.

Might crack this version open and see what I can do with it...probably very little eh? Windows 7 drivers work on it? :p

I had a Pentium 90mhz, 16mb of ram, 3.5" floppy and Windows 95. That's how it all stated for me. Win 95 was crazy awesome.

Imassume you never used Windows 3.1. It was OK but windows was never taken too seriously at that point. With Win95 everything in the computing world changed. Its the reason Microsoft beat out Apple for market share, even though Apple had a GUI first.

That was a Windows 98 beta, although it wasn't all that hard to get Windows 95 to bluescreen either.

Anyway... I'll bet that an unopened retail box of Windows 95 might be worth something to a collector. I know that I used to collect software boxes back in the 90's just because some the cover art was cool, but I gave that up when I ran out of shelf space.

The software itself is practically useless, though. Maybe you could use the CD as a drink coaster at a LAN party, it might be a good conservation piece :)
