Unofficial Shipping thread

I have seen many of these threads about Fedex this, UPS that, lets end it all right here and right now, complain and praise.

Speed: Fedex
Condition: Fedex
Tracking: UPS is more detailed, but Fedex's updates faster and keeps longer history, I still have tracking info from 2002 :Q
Overall: Fedex OWNS

I never really had a horrid experience with any of them. I prefer UPS or Fedex because they ship to my door.

USPS always gives me a yellow slip and I have to wait a whole day before I get to go pick it up in person.

Pretty much QFT.

if you think speed is fedex, you need to be shot. nothing beat usps in speed, esp coast to coast in 3 days or less. I have shipped tons of packages to west coast, the only time it took more than 3 days was because I wrote a wrong zipcode.

The post office is horrible at shipping things on a timely basis and the packages always come mangaled. Fedex PWNS in all categories. I have always used them and they are super fast and efficient. Prices are good and tracking system is just as good as UPS's.

I like Priority Mail's speed. Saturday => Tuesday for my MIT app. ^^. When I Ebayed stuff I used Priority for speed, but for more expensive stuff and for ease of tracking I went with UPS.

I honestly prefer UPS's ground service though because of nice tracking. They ship very promptly, and no delay time. Fedex ground will slow down and even their 2 day service they'll leave packages in Oakland for a whole damn day when I'm less than an hr away. I wanted something from ZZF (Uniion City) and they shipped to Oakland ASAP, but left it there for a whole 24 hours before moving it to Sunnyvale and then to my house the next day. UPS ground wuold've done it in 1 day.

I think if you're talking speed, UPS' Sonic Air has been a tremendous success and that's how we ship at our company.

Speed for budget = Priority mail = USPS.

Tracking = UPS for teh win. Fedex's estimates are always off. UPS is almost always on time but sometimes will delay. Fedex will come earlier, but their estimates just suck.

My personal Ebay shipping option = UPS.

What a bunch of SPUDS! UPS is first choice of the shops I've worked for and their suppliers. I'm sure there's a reason, and it ain't price!

For price, FedEx even beats USPS lately. Great bang for the buck for Ebay traders and small businesses... BUT, their tracking is PATHETIC! UPS has FAR better, more accurate and up to date tracking.

Speed: Priority Mail hands down, nothing else is even close. Everything else, FedEx.

My most recent shipping experience. Bought a golf club and sold one at about the same time. I shipped the one I sold from Connecticut to California via Priority Mail. Shipping plus insurance on the $95 value came to exactly $7.95. Went out on a Monday at noon, was delivered in California Wednesday afternoon, just a little over 48 hours coast to coast. The one I bought was shipped via UPS from Kansas to Connecticut. Was shipped on a Thursday morning, received it the next Thursday evening. More than a full week to cover about half the distance Priority Mail did in 2 days. And UPS charged nearly $3 more to go 5 full days slower. UPS sucks, brown is the color of sh*t.

Speed: Priority Mail hands down, nothing else is even close...

This would explain why Dell, Buy.com, Newegg, ZZF, and all the rest use USPS instead... oh wait! 😕

Fedex and DHL are horrid here.
UPS and USPS are the only way we ship. 80% of our stuff goes via Priority Mail.

You should delete speed and make it "Speed:Cost".

Cost:Speed: USPS
Condition: USPS, Fedex
Tracking: Fedex
Overall: Fedex

In terms of shipping out, for me, FedEx Ground is almost half the cost of UPS Ground, and faster. Although I live in Memphis 🙂

Using ground, it takes two days to go from Memphis to NYC, four days from Memphis to San Diego.

And what makes you think that Dell Buy.com and the others give a damn about shipping speed? They're looking for whatever is easier FOR THEM, not what is faster than for the customer. If you had ever shipped anything you'd know that UPS and FedEx can't get close to the speed of Priority Mail.

Fedex lightly over USPS WAY OVER UPS for everything

just today, i was expecting a UPS package... it was out for delivery at 8am... been doing carpentry stuff at home all day.... left the house at 7pm... just got back, and UPS tracking said its scheduled for redelivery because they werent able to get me at 6:30pm. BULLSHTT! i was home during that time... they just didnt even get to my place ontime thus making that BS excuse
