A few of us have been discussing QNX on here lately, and I have downloaded their full OS (not the floppy version)and will be installing it tonight on a crash box, a pentium 166 with 128 Meg of ram on a 3.4gig HD. The modest parts will help test the OS, rather than running it on a screaming machine, I figure, I may even throw in 32 meg of EDO instead. I have partioned a HD for it ( I cant believe you have to run the setup program under windows) and will be setting it up, and testing the crap out of it this weekend. With my experience with unix-based OSs and OSs in general, I figure I can give a decent review. I will post it here, for all to look at, and probably have an even better one in a week or so. keep your eyes peeled.

For those interested, you can download a trial version, never even uses the HD, just boots and runs off the floppy, at http://www.qnx.com, check it out, it is really interesting.
they have options for windows or linux systems. really cool!!

You don't have to install it from Windows. They have an ISO up that works fine, but that does require a CD burner. I tried it the first few days after it came out. It works ok but I had a problem w/ it crashing at the login screen if the screen saver came on. Right now I'm sticking w/ Linux (choice os) and Win2k (for stuff I can't do in Linux). I'll probably stick BeOS on this box (again) as well whenever I get the time (which means in the next year or so :)).

I use it for a real-time OS class. It seems preety good. Stable and easy to develop in.
