What do you think will happen?

Is this the most important debate?

We all know you have to kill a goat and pledge fealty to GWB to gain access to an event. Will this be a liability for Bush since he's unprepared for that kind of question?

Seems like people think Kerry will be taken off guard. I dunno. He seems pretty cool. I heard something on the radio where he owned a heckler. I'll be surprised if het gets caught off guard.

Will bush have an ear piece with Karen Hughes in his ear?

Will Bush cock his head and go "the only thing he is consistent is being inconsistent, yuck yuck"?

One thing I agree with the radio hosts is that since Bush has low expectations he's going to be able to come back easier and make himself look good. And that Kerry now has high expectations. I think if Kerry can paint Bush as a blind fool in denial over WMDs and economy he'll be a success.

Saving a major goof in the last debate, this is Kerry's chance to put the election away.

Neil Boortz? Bwuahahahahahaha! Talk about the clueless....

I think the first debate was the most important debate because the first time two opponents meet one of them establishes dominance. Kerry dominated and will do so again, unless Bush grew brain cells in 10 days.

I can't imagine any way Bush could significantly improve on his form, or his substance for that matter.

Oh come on he's good at that easy going hick thing... People love it and want to have a beer with him apparently.

But if Kerry can make grave accusations I think he won't be able to pull it off. Basically, he'll look like a doophus if he pulls the friendly schmuck routine when faces with his massive failure.

What can Kerry possibly say?

"Unemployment is at 5.4%"? Big deal. That's the lowest it's been since 9/11. Unemployement was higher than that through Clinton's entire first term. 10 times out of the last 14 elections, the incumbent won the election when unemployement is less than 5.6%.

"Stock is 500 points lower than the day you took office"? Big deal. It can move that much in a week.

"Jobs are being outsourced"? Big deal. Look at #1 above. It's not affecting our unemployment rates. And outsourced labor allows you to buy goods much cheaper than if the workforce was entirely domestic.

He will say that Bush is a freak in denial that he failed it and the economy sucks. People will relate because they've heard in the news there's no WMDs and lots of people will think Bush is a schmuck in denial.

Oh, I thought the first debate was about Iraq. My bad.

According to the various focus group polling for the news networks, the largest positive that undecideds gave to Kerry i.e 1-10 was when he called GWB out for outsourcing the job of getting OBL to Afghan warlords.

What was GWB's repsonse again? The same thing happened in the Edwards/Cheney debate. Cheney's largest positive was when he was talking about his family and the whole gay marriage thing! Edwards' largest positive was when he talked about things Kerry would try and do to stop outsourcing.
You can cite all the employment numbers you want (each side can talk about the good/bad) but there is a geniune sense out there that the jobs that are being created are no where near as good in pay as the jobs that are lost. When a father has to compete with his son for a $7/hr second job, that means more to the average voter than some employment number that doesn't affect people's daily lives.

Being as the format is a bit less formal than before, Bush will probably be able to control his facial expressions and, therefore, will be considered the winner of the debate.

I'm sure Kerry will rip him to shreds in terms of substance, though.

I hope he overcompensates for his facial expressions and smirks a lot.

This debate will definitely force both candidates to think on their feet moreso than the first debate. Considering the town-hall format and the questions not being known ahead of time, I would gather that would put Bush at a disadvantage. Bush is best when delivering pre-scripted speeches. Thinking on his feet is not his strong point (obviously).

I hope they pat Bush down for weird bulges. ;) :p

im scared...I think this debate will either make for break Bush. If he doesn't stop the bleeding then this election is over IMO. If Bush has a performance like he had the first one then this election is OVER. If pulls out a debate like in 2000 then this race will still be his to win imo.

ntdz, thanks for being honest.

And don't be scared. If Bush loses, everyone will gain. :) We're in this together... except you want Bush to win... :)

I have to say it's a little like when your team is in the superbowl and you really want them to kick ass but when the other team is on your 20 you start to worry. :p
