Remember these aren't bows from back in the day, but yeah, I think it does make it more "fair".

Even though bows aren't from "back in the day" you are still talking maybe talking 15-25 yards for a shot...which isn't that far away....and with a lot of room for error in making a good shot.

If anything, the advancements in bow hunting technology have made it so that the deer is dead before it even knows it has been shot. Between high velocity pulling bows, faster flying arrows, and better penetrating heads, you can cut through a deer much better and make for a very clean kill.

Yeah, no kidding

Just once in a while they should let the hunters take however many they can use. I hate killing, and I love seeing the deer around, but it's ridiculous here. They're destructive, and on the roads they're dangerous, and they're going to get killed one way or the other, so they might as well get eaten by someone who wants them I say.

easier to clean up for the taxidermist, too, if that's your thing.

This made me think of a new Hummer commercial:
Have a little house wife just nail deer after deer and show that it just keeps going. To show they are not just going after deer, hit a couple of protesting PETA members. but then again, you can't eat the PETA members...

I would think that the new bows keep some deer from being partially shot....

If you back up and hit them again it tenderizes them pretty well. You might have to repeat, but whatever. Good times!

as long as you eat it or give it away to people who will it's fine... if you kill it for sport you should know some people who will eat it and give it to them as gifts... if you kill the animal just to kill it (unless it's something like a frog or squirrel :p) then yea that's wrong

as long as someone eats the food produced... i'm ok with it

I want a poll option for "kill the over-sized rats by any means necessary" or something to that effect

I hate PETA, but I think the whole sport hunting is pretty retarded.
This is the 21st century, we don't need to hunt for food.
Unless you do live in the wild and handmade your bow, then go ahead.

A far better sport would be jousting.

Illinois just passed a weird law recently that allowed you to carry a handgun durring any deer hunting season. It's just seems odd for it to be bow hunting season but you could be packing heat for those "close encounters".

BTW - I'd love to get into muzzle loader deer hunter.

My uncle shoots deer from his van with his 357 Mag.

Legally, since he is stuck in a wheelchair.

I can assure you no repeat is necessary when using a Hummer.

yes leting an over populated deer population starve over a cold winter is so much better than an almost instant death
rolleye.gif

hmm starve to death whill freezing or take a bullet to the head--personally id take the bullet.

EDIT: I agree with you with hunting other animals--mainly big game. Ohh look at me a i killed a lion at 1000 yards--im such a big man

Well, pick one of the following options:
-let the deer overpopulate, then starve to death or die after getting hit by a car
-let people hunt the deer
-re-introduce their natural predators and dont worry too much about the occasional child be eaten by a wolf/mountain lion
-use permanent contraceptives at the cost of $600 per female deer (the option PETA tried to push around my area)
-exterminate the deer till they are extinct.

I dont see many other options that are any more viable that the above. But if you see an alternative, please point it out. Otherwise, take your pick, because right now, to quote the Ohio DNR's own report, the deer population "is growing at a near exponential rate", due to the hippies blocking any attempt at deer population control.

I'd love to see re-intoduced predators around here but it will never happen. We have some bear but thats the only big preds.

Deer numbers have to be taken down and atleast with a bow its some what sporting.

OK, re-introducing bears is less realistic than contraceptives in terms of it happening in areas with a significant human presence, and lets face it, thats where the biggest conflicts are. Plus, a deer has to be really, really sick or injured for a bear to catch it.

We have bears already. I meant I would like to see some wolves and big cats here.
