I think that Via surprised everyone with the KT266A chipset. Everyone thought that the nForce boards would be the fastest boards out there, but Via came through once again. (the second time around)

It's a shame that the Athlon XP can't use all of that extra bandwidth that the nForce offers.

kt266a was just a reiteration of their initially failed attempt at a decent DDR chipset...doesn't deserve jack, especially w/ the amount of issues surrounding it.

SIS 735 came out blistering in both SDR and DDR with god awfully cheap price....it's stable as a rock as well.

the nfArce was all hype, respectable performance, but costs far too much for an integrated chipset and the intended market...and then that "super stability" mode is a joke on top of that...decent tho.

SIS 645 - probably the best p4 DDR chipset out right now...

ali magik b0/c0 stepping is commendable...too bad it hasn't been backed by any major players...

you just knew the kt266a was going to take all the honors........lol

gotta admit.....its a killer chipset

like the post above me said.........ali majik bo rev c is'ent backed by enough people yet..........but just wait......it has the makin's of a great one too!!!

the SIS 735 "bug" isn't chipset inherent, it's mobo/bios inherent.

latest revision K7S5A boards have solved the crummy performance problem caused by running asynchronously...

thus the 745 is not crippled by said "bug"...

I voted for KT266A, but nForce wasn't far away.

And besides, it's allways fun to vote for VIA, just cause everytime someone says something good about VIA, Pabster nearly craps in his pants 😀

I voted for the VIA KT266A just to wind Pabster up 😉, 😀

Revenge is sweet 😀😀😀 .

I like the SiS645. It gives another option to those interested in going the P4 route. I think the P4 can use a slightly cheaper platform too. Boards based on this chipset will probably be significantly cheaper than boards with similar features that use the i845D/i850.

I do apologise if I've mislead people... unfortunately I can't find my source, and I heard it a couple of months ago, so I guess I missed this news.
