yeah, possibly.

AnandTech said they had overclocking problems with their K8N-E Dlx when they used SATA.
But IDE worked fine.

It doesn't make sense really, because both IDE and SATA are *not* on the PCI bus, they use hypertransport (I think).

mmm, out of ideas :(
i'm giving up, seems that my system doe not support the OC over 2300mhz, no matter how i try

although, benchmarking proves that no more than a few percents are the max benefits when running on 2250-2300 (ddr synchrone), so getting higher with mhz but lowering the ram frequencies and HT multiplier won't be such an improvement

and as far as the HL2 runs with 4aa/8af everything high, i'm not so said :)

anyway, thanks for replies

Anyone tried the 1008 beta bios?

I noticed in the forums that the best bios for overclocking is the 1004, why is that?
Also if I switch to this bios from 1006 will my raptor HD work as it should be?
Because I heard that there are problems with SATA drives when you are using bios prior to 1005.

Just got board. The bios keeps setting the memory to 333 if I set it to 400. I am trying to run one to one with fsb. I have fsb at 225, but memory is only running 181 or so. Please tell me what I am missing. I am using the new 1.08 final bios, which was on the German website.

I am using a 512 stick of low latency corsair xms 3200 and a a 512 stick of kigston hyperx 3700. Someone pleas tell me what I need to do to get the bios to accept 400 for the memory. I set it in chipset where it gives a choice of 100,133, 166,200 for memory speed, but as I said, it keeps setting mem to 333, whcih I guess is a 5/6 divider, at least as far as what cpu-z is showing.

Thanks for the help.

Where did you get that? If I am on the German page for the K8N-E Deluxe the download link directs me to the Italian(!) Asus site which doesn't even have the 1006 BIOS?

I used the Asus Update utility and scanned all the available servers for new bios. Hope this works for you. Let me know.

Asus update utility should be on the cd that came with your mobo, but you can also download it from their site. Handy little tool.

I just tried the 1008 "Final" BIOS, also downloaded using Asus update. Doh. It takes away the options for changing memory settings (aside from 1T/Auto), and it mysteriously stopped detecting the power supply fan. I rolled back to 1007 and all is well once more.

Well, early reports have users flocking back to 1008. Asus's crack BIOS team are at it again apparently.
