I finally got around to seriously overclocking my 8800gts 640. I used ATI TOOL .27 to do the overclock. After using "find max core" & "find max mem" I settled on an overclock of 690/1090. The temp of the card got up to 82C while scanning in ATI Tool.

I also ran 3dmark 06 which gave me a score of 12094. That is about 1500 marks above stock vid card speed. :) My max vid card temp was 75C when running the 3dmark test.

See my sig below for my rig setup.

What do you use to overclock?

Please post you Overclocks, Temps, & Experiences ! :)

My card did max out at 695/1100 and was perfectly stable for all my games (CS:S, R6Vegas, CoD2, and even 3DMarks06) but Bioshock changed that. Only 695/900 is stable for Bioshock for some reason. Anyway temps are good, and I've never seen them go above 65C (cooling is stock, but I removed the fan and have a 120mm fan blowing over it)

I use Rivatuner to set the overclock at Windows start up. ATITool isn't supported on Vista yet. I did use ATITool to stability test the card back in April when I got it but I was on WinXP back then. Above 612 GPU speed the PC would lock up & above 900 GDDR speed, I'd get artifacts. The overclock is quite disappointing & I've never been happy with it but now that I'm on a new platform, new OS & am using more mature drivers, I'll need to try again. I did have an overclocked AMD X2 build back then which may have also hindered things. It's not encouraging to hear that Bioshock is maxing the memory out at 900 though.

Nice 3dmark06 score fatty. My 3dmark06 score on this rig was 10329 which is pretty mediocre. I've only got the 320Mb version and am not overclocking as high. And I'm on Vista!

I wonder if the 320mb version is holding your overclock back? I also looked at a few reviews on newegg (640 version) and some of the guys where stating 700/900.

Games that are uysing newer engines and stressing the GPU in new ways will likely cause stability issues at overclocks that were assumed to be stable before. I know I had to lower my HD2900XT overclock from 810/975 to 780/950
