--- SHORTY'S TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION --
1. If the game wont start at all, and/or you get an error message on the launcher: Simply uninstalling and reinstalling might not be enough. You also need to delete the Sims 3 registry keys which unfortunately are left behind after an uninstall. This also applies if you removed some expansion packs but left the base game installed.

You dont need to delete EVERYTHING. Just the expansions you decided to not use anymore.
2. Any game mode: If you see stuttering or hiccuping try this. Save game, pause it, open the command console with CTRL + SHIFT + C, type in resetsim * and hit Enter. Get out of console, unpause game.
It should fix most stuttering issues. This will also stop whatever your Sim was doing and put him/her back at home, so you may want to consider that.
3. In the Ambitions expansion: If you are having issues in the firefighter career try this. Save game, go to the Edit Town mode, delete or change the fire station to something else, DO NOT LEAVE EDIT TOWN, put the fire house back in the same spot. Go back into the game. You will still have your career and it should fix most issues like missing co-workers or problems with responding to fires. You will need to re-upgrade your rig and alarm.

- GENERAL TIPS -
1. Placement:
Most items like computers and microwaves and other interactive items need to be placed on the edge of a table facing an empty space where the sim can stand in front of it. Computers need to have a chair right in front of them as well. You cannot fix or upgrade it without sitting down in front of it.
Along those lines, if you want to push out a wall you must remove all decorations on both sides of the wall, and you usually have to move furniture away from the wall as well. Stretch it out. Then put everything back.
