unmountable_boot_volume recovery

A powerful storm blew in fast last night at my place and as I was in the process of shutting down, there was either a surge or a fade in power and before the computer was totally down it froze. When I reset it, I now get the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error.

Now I have found this in the MS KB: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q297185 but I am having trouble getting to this recovery console. I changed the BIOS to boot from CD ROM first but it just refuses to. So, i guess my question is, how can I make a Windows start disk to boot up so I can get to the recovery console?

Well I managed to finally get the CD ROM to boot up, launched the repair option and did a chkdsk /r at the command line.

It found and repaired errors, upon loading it then let me know my XP profile was corrupted so i began the process of creating a new one, copying over the old profile and back to surfing again...

Just put this here in case someone else gets the problem...
