Ok so my laptop was all fine and dandy, i let my mom use it... She wakes up in the morning telling me my comp crashed. Blue screen comes up "Unmountable Boot Volume". Anyone know how to fix this w/o reinstalling windows?

If you have the original install disk and are able to boot to it...start the recovery counsol. If you can get to the counsol try this command and see if it will let you boot after it is completed c:\ Chkdsk /r Be aware this process can take a while to run, be patient.

Other options if the Chkdsk /r command doest fix the problem are... c:\fixboot and c:\fixmbr....dont run these though until you try to fix it with the chkdsk /r command.

The chkdsk bit is the important part - he wouldn't be able to get to the BSOD bit if his boot files and MBR/etc. were incorrect. I suspect chkdsk will either fix the problem or highlight the problem.
