Unlucky motorcyclist

My brother-in-law just got engaged and the day after, his fiancee's father, an avid motorcyclist and leader of the local Patriot Guard group was killed by a teenage girl who was not paying attention while she was driving.

He was wearing protective gear, but blunt force trauma to his torso collapsed his rib cage and the fractured bones punctured his heart and killed him.

He was a retired Army veteran and is a true loss.

This isn't looking like a great week...one of my coworkers was in motorcycle vs car accident the other day (car's fault, from what I understand) - she's hospitalized with two broken bones in her leg..

OP didn't mention whether teen was on cell phone. for all we know, she was a new driver who got caught up in a circumstance beyond her control.
