Well im going to be getting a 4000+ AM2 Brisbane with a EVGA 590 SLi mobo and i wanted to know how i can unlock the multiplier on the processor. I know the FX series already have it unlocked so im wondering why cant the other ones be unlocked. Post a guide or something to help me out.

If you don't mind ruining your warranty and voiding your CPU there is a way, oh dang. I meant voiding your warranty and ruining your CPU.

It was possible with the AXP CPU's cause the bridges were in plain view for modders to alter and with enough room for some whiteout and copper ink. Such is not the case now 🙁

just use fsb and ram divider, don't even think there is a way to unlock current cpu mulitpliers easily if at all (haven't followed the current gen too much, still happy w/ my x2s), but if you find a tutorial, post it 🙂

Yea ive taken the IHS off of my old winny 3000+ and everything went well. Ive been reading around and it seems that if the IHS says 2001 then its ok to remove but if it says 2005 or up then that means the IHS is soldered onto the core and is not advised to try and remove it. Its possible but you need a pentorch and all that to melt the solder.

Heres a couple links i found that give some info on the IHS removal.
