Unlocking the Barton........need some adivce

I have a Barton 2500, and i can OC to like 2.2 but it's not very stable while gaming. So i have gone down to 2.1 and it still has just a wee bit of trouble on a occations. So i was wondering around on the web, and come across this Speed Strip IDK if it actually does anything, or if it's a 50-50 chance that it will improve anything.........or if it will actually work.

Setup is in the sig. But i was just wondering if anyone had some advice for me, should i get this??? Or is there something else i could do to unlock it.

Would unlocking it actually improve stablility while gaming at 2.2 or higher.

I've heard about the thing where you bend the pins or w/e but i kinda don't want to risk my 2500 to try it. And i thought this would be a good alternative, if it actually works.

That strip looks pretty simple to use, just make sure yours starts with the AXDA model number and then read the link they gave you to make sure it would work.

Maybe you just need a bit more voltage to hold yours stable at your desired speed. Whats yours voltage and load temps look like?

thats a little too high there buddy, try staying under 1.85 on air, otherwise you are probably going to burn something with taht voltage (and heat!)

My guess is that it's not your chip but your motherboard. The new Abit NF7 boards are NOT like the older NF7 boards when it comes to overclocking. I had an NF7-S R2, 2 of them actually, and they both were happy overclockers. All the reports I've read about the NF7-S2 boards have shown dismal overclocking ability.

I don't know what all that voltage stuff for the CPU core means in the bios. I just got by Mother Board Monitor 5. It says that my CPU is at 1.9V

So i'm guessing thats alil to high. But is there anything else i should change to make my system perform better????

Unlocking your Barton will do nothing for your OC ability. The NF7-S2 is a crippled NF7-S v2, and lacks multiplier adjustment.

Nope--this is why you can't use a mobile on it, either (they autodetect at around 600 or 800 MHz with the wrong multiplier). (Unless, of course, you actually have an NF7-S v2 and mistyped it.)

Sorry man but your board was not designed to overclock like it's predecessors. You could sell it in FS/FT forum and get yourself a real NF7-S R2. I still see them for sale at NewEgg.com.

or you coudl go DFI and overclock it to 2.3 without having to unlock the multiplyer, lol. Sorry thats my only Bias.

No, Derwen is right, i can speak to this matter. i OWN an NF7-S REV2 and would much rather have a DFI Lanparty.

Just go with the infinity if you don't need the pretty colors. exact same board just different colors.
