Unlocking System Folders in Win7

How do I gain access to system folders in Win 7? I am trying to figure out where Windows 7 puts files so I know how to back them up and where my files are going. At the moment, I am trying to move my Zune song database from XP to Win 7. The Zune software tends to put things like album art in system folders that are not stored in my music where my database is located. Since I can't get into the Documents and settings folder, I can't see what is going on with Win 7. This is on an Acer Laptop which also has MyWinlocker on it. Could winlocker be keeping me from opening the files or is Win 7 doing that?

Well I think that some of the stuff I am seeing are fake folders that windows creates to keep you from figuring out what is going on. I unistalled MyWinlocker and it did not change anything. I will check out your link. Thanks Jack.

What I do in Win 7 to access "denied" folders and/or files is right click and TAKE OWNERSHIP as Administrator..

That's because Documents and Settings isn't a directory in Win7, it's a link to Users, it's best to just ignore it and move on.

That is what I ment. I was trying to open something that was a link and not a true directory. Thanks for the tip.
