unlocking phones - specifically, Lumia 620

Is it possible? I want to do it safely without risking damage to the phone (bricking it or whatever).

The only carrier in Canada that has the Lumia 620 is Telus, and I want to stick with Fido, but Telus won't unlock it for me for 3 months following purchase (presumably to encourage me to get a plan with Telus).

Can someone help me out?

Do you already have the phone? If not it looks like you can get a black one already unlocked for $199 CAD plus shipping.

So I take it these are factory unlocked phones?

Not sure. You could try and ask them and see. No diff if it's factory or was done with a code as long as it's unlocked I'd think.

Might want to make sure the company is legit before ordering tho. I'm in US so never dealt with them.

I might just use an eBay vendor for legitimacy reasons. I can get one shipped for about $260.
