I am trying to use my old xbox hard drive in my desktop computer. The hard drive came locked, so in order to use it i need to unlock it. I have a program that can unlock it, but whenever i restart my computer after unlocking it, its locked again. This is what ATAPWD told me:
the following indicators where on:
S - Security command set support indicator
E - User password indicator
L - lock mode indicator (is off after i unlock it, until i reboot)
the following indicators were off:
F - frozen mode indicator
X - attempt count expired
The security level was set to maximum
I am not very knowledgable in this area. Is it that once a drive is locked, it cannot be unlocked? when its locked i cant access it from any other programs (fdisk, gdisk, norton ghost, etc.), but i can access it once its unlocked.
If unlocking is the answer (which i think it is), can i unlock it so it stays unlocked? how?
