"Unlocking Half Life 2 Files"

Mine took about an hour to get to 50%, now it's been paused there for another hour. WTF gives? I know the Steam servers must be bogged down, but should the unlocking process be taking this long?
 
Several minutes here as well and that was around 5pm east coast US. Pretty quick system (in sig). I saw plenty of traffic on my cablemodem during the process. I'm guessing the servers are bogged now. I'd say reboot and restart if it's too long.
 
mine took a LOOOONG time at around 11am so im in the same boat as you man.


but nice game though.

I was anticipating Doom more, but HL is a good game 🙂
 
From loading the 1st CD to being ready to start playing took almost 40 mins., starting at 11 pm EST on Tues.

Compared to the 3-4 minutes it took to create a profile and start into Halo 2, this is pathetic! :|
 
I have broadband at work. Can i download it here and then burn the downloaded files on to a CD to play on my home computer?

 
Its Steam. Mine took 20-30minutes, and then steam said that they would try again later with the registration. I was able to play the game in another 20 minutes. Im not sure if Steam is finished registering though...

Hey fanboy, Halo 2 is on xbox, you don't need to install it unless you modded your xbox.
Besides, Halo 2's visuals are much clearer and industry redefining! And in multi-player, don't let anyone tell you different, the text DOESN'T take up the whole pane.

Edit: Unlocking took me about 5 minutes, with EQ2 in the background 😛
 
Don't know about you but it took me 13.5 hrs to d/l the HL2 component and I have 5 M/b broadband. It finished at 5:30am and I had to goto work so the files are probably still locked.
 
The CD version took for me around 15 minutes for all the files to unlock.

Needless to say "steam" is ripping my hard drive appart.
