I just got a new laptop and I've heard that the radeon 3100 is an underclocked 3200 running at 350mhz as opposed to the 500mhz with the 3200. I was wondering if there is anyway to unlock this and have it run faster and if it would be safe to do without having to worry about damaging my laptop. Thanks

Well all you would have to do is overclock it, but I am unsure if they use the same chip. I remember that the old 6200LE could be overclocked to normal 6200 speeds.

Its probably clocked that way for a reason so why risk damaging your laptop? also what do you hope to accomplish by overclocking it anyway? do you think that 10fps in Crysis will be any more playable than 8fps?

Haha...no.

Crysis is a crappy POS anyway. (My 2 cents)

Laptop cooling is traditionally inadequate at stock speeds + heavy loads. Cranking the clock up from 350 to 500 mhz and then stressing it with something which demands that performance is pretty much guaranteed to cook something. Dont' do it.

Leave the card alone. There is no difference in performance between that card and the unlocked one. It will play games as crappy as it plays them now.
