Unlocking ancient motherboard

I know they say they fixed the search function, but a total of 4 posts came back when I searched for this board, and none of them were the one I was looking for.

I am currently trying to go past 11.0 multiplier on this board but it won't let me.

It has a setting for 12.5 but defaults back to 11 no matter what I do. There was a way around this, I just am not getting any hits through google or this site.

Does anyone remember what to do?

Edit - I found the Official thread but couldn't find a reference on this. Maybe I was hallucinating.
 
What CPU are you using on this board? If you have a locked chip then that would explain why you can't use multiplier settings higher than the chip's default multiplier.

Memories of my old mobo. The A7N8X-E DLX is a great board. Only a few socket-A boards could break the multiplier limit (i.e. NF7), but only with certain chips.

With the multiplier, the A7N8X-E DLX will not go any higher than the available multiplier burned into the CPU. I had a 2500 XP-M in my board that I ran constantly at 2.4ghz (12*200mhz).

The XP-M was a 133mhz chip, so it should have run at 1600mhz (12*133=1596)mhz. By boosting the FSB I achieved a higher clockrate as well as higher memory bandwidth 🙂 . Just a tip, the Athlon XP chips always run better when the ram is run at the same FSB as the CPU.

Questions: what chip are you using? How far have you pushed the FSB?
 
Well, I have a Barton 2500+ in it.

This is my old board and chip that I saved for my peltier project, which has now come together. I bought a 512mb stick of Corsair XMS PC4200 so the ram wouldn't hold me back. I have the northbridge and videocard on a separate watercooled loop so they won't hold me back either.

I have started out by going to 220 X 11 without even a hiccup. I bumped the voltage to 1.75 just to make sure, but I don't know that that was even necessary. The cpu temp stayed at 19 Celcius at that overclock, so I think I've got plenty to go all the way around.

I am going to take this board all the way to the edge 🙂
