So my gaming rig is listed below. I currently run my AMD 960T at 3.5GHz and it runs extremely cool at this speed and handles the games i play just fine. Mostly Black Ops 2.

However, after watching the new Battlefield 4 trailer, i know i'm going to purchase that game. If BF3 is any indication, the Frostbite engine loves more cores.

My 960T unlocks just fine to 6 cores at 3.4GHz while still running very cool. I leave the cores disabled because for the games i play, i see no difference at all.

BUT, i'm assuming that if i get BF4 that those extra 2 cores would definitely help my gameplay?

Well, from what I know, you can freely lock and unlock the cores, so nothing here is permanent. I say just go for it and if it turns out to not help, you can just re-disable the extra cores.

just dont use the stock heatsink.

I've got a CM Hyper 212+ on it with plenty of cooling in my case. With just 4-cores at idle i'm doing 17-20C and at load 30-38C. So i'm pretty sure cooling is fine :)
