Well I was going to post this on howardforums but seeing they don't allow these types of posts anymore I will try here. I want to unlock my v557 phone, I have cingular as a service provider. Is there any reason that I should NOT unlock it? Such as can it break certain functions of the phone? I am hoping that it will fit a BT problem that I am trying to work aroung. How/where can I get it unlocked for free?
 
You need a data cable, and the properly programs to flash the phone to a new firmware... if you don't have the right tools, or don't want to bother with it (the process is pretty complicated), pay and have someone do it for you...
 
With these new motorola's, you cant just type in a sequence of numbers to unlock the phone (like the older Nokia's)... the phone has to be flashed
 
what bluetooth problem? unlocking won't help any issue like that....as mentioned, a new version of firmware might....what are you trying to connect with bt?
