unlocking a 6800XT help

I recently purchased a 6800XT. I was able to unlock 8 extra pipelines and 2 vertex shaders but when I play a game I get graphics bugs. I went back and did them one at a time and so far I am only able to safely unlock a vertex shader. I haven't tried a second one yet. The disabled pieplines won?t work without errors.

My questions are: Can I do anything to make them work? Do the extra shaders really help a lot without the pipelines? If I OC the card will that help? I just bought an NV silencer 5.


Worst case I got what I paid for so no biggie.

if they give ya arts then you are pretty much screwed. It means they disabled the pipes cuz they actually didnt work, not just to make a 6800xt. The extra vertex may give a very slight boost, probably not noticeable, but you already have it done so just leave it on. Ocing will help a bunch and that NV Silencer should give you some good headroom. Might also want to consider a volt mod or two if you really want to push it.

Thanks Morgash, I thought as much but im no expert. I OC'ed it a little with rivatuner. Its still running cool with the silencer.
 
well post your OC results here and maybe I can help you get a little more out of it. Like I said though if you really want to push it read up on volt modding. The extra voltage can give you some sick OC results. Try reading THIS article to learn more.
