as SickBeast said, if you want your system to be faster....drop the multiplier and raise the fsb. 12 x 143 gets you 1716 mhz, if you drop to 10 or 10.5 and can go to 166 mhz you will have a much faster system. Of course your ram must be able to take the higher fsb, and depending on your other components you may have a problem with a nic, or HD, just depends. drop the multiplier to 7 or 8 and see how high you can go on the fsb before the ram or cpu craps out..., then set the multiplier as high as it will go with that highest stable fsb.
one 1600xp I have will top out at 1620 mhz, no matter if it's 133 mhz X 12 , or 190 mhz X 8.5 ...1620 is tops for this cpu. But its is a much faster system overall when it runs at 8.5 X 190mhz
