unlocked iphone

have an unlocked and jailbroken 8gb 1st gen iphone. i have a data plan(works fine on my g1 and hd2) but it's not working on the iphone.

do i still need a data plan since i'm using the iphone on at&t?

i figured since it was unlocked my regular data plan would work.

Huh? So are you using this on T-mobile or AT&T? I can't figure out what you're trying to do.

I'm on at&t. i normally use an HD2 unlocked. I have an 8gb 1st gen iphone with 3.1.2 that is unlocked and jailbroken. it's not letting me use my data plan(ie. get on internet, appstore, etc).

but it works fine in my g1 unlocked and hd2 unlocked. i thought it didn't matter if i had the specific 'iphone data plan' since it was unlocked. maybe i'm wrong?

You probably need to change the APN settings to point at AT&T on the iPhone. I'm on a lousy GPRS Internet connection so I can't Google it, but you want to find the AT&T APN setting and put it in under carrier data settings... That's my best guess anyway.

Odds are AT&T has it blocked. They require the iPhone data plan when using an iPhone on their service.
