unlocked iPhone noob

I am looking to drop contracts. I heard the iPhone 6/s has all the bands in it for whatever carrier(Verizon, ATT, Tmobile, or Sprint). So if I bought an unlocked iPhone 6 and put an ATT sim card in it, it would work on the ATT network. Now, say a couple months down the road, I would like to switch to Verizon, Can I put in the sim card and activate it on verizon? If so, how many times can this be done? Can I go back and forth to my heart content? Or does it get messier than that?

TIA

Yes - if you bought an unlocked iPhone, you can put any sim card in it and it'll work with no restrictions. You can switch sim cards at any time to your hearts content.

The "issue" lies within which unlocked iPhone you buy. If you buy an unlocked iPhone 6S, you're fine switching between any carrier (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile). However, if you buy an unlocked iPhone 6, some models only have GSM radios and some have both GSM/CDMA so double check on Apple's website and make sure that the iPhone 6 you get is both GSM/CDMA compatible. Hope that helps!

thank you secretanchitman. I was looking at the 6s, and I found two model numbers, is there a difference between these phones?

A1633
A1688

You'd be fine with either of those two models. Literally the only difference is that A1633 supports an extra LTE band that A1688 doesn't have (Band 30, which only AT&T uses in very specific regions), but otherwise, either model is fine. I personally have the A1688 model and have not had an issue with it!
