unlocked cores = not reading temps?

Is this correct?

I have a PII X2 555 unlocked to X4, and I can't get proper temp readings anymore. I have it OCed to 3.5 and it's stable, but I want to see if I can go any higher, but without reading temps its kinda sketchy.

From what I've read, that is a common problem. If you google "unlocked core temps" you'll see what I mean. Those were just search terms I came up with off the top of my head; there may be better terms to search on. :)

Once you unlock you cannot read core temps (via software) anymore, correct. I believe the common method of getting a fairly good estimate is taking core system temp and adding 4-5 degrees c.

I have the same problem with my unlocked 550BE. I can still get temp readings from HWmonitor, but the temps seem to come from a different sensor (TMPIN). Or at least I think it's the cpu's temperature.
