Unlock weapons in Single Player for BF2?

I've tried editing the unlock file a few different ways but I've not been successful. How do I do it the proper way!

You can only do it with the retail 1.00 version of the game.

EA\Dice removed the ability in the 1.01 & 1.02 patches.

If you want some practice with a certain gun, you can always go shoot somebody with one and take theirs

haha true enough. I just want to see if its worth making a new account. I unlocked the medic gun and it sort of sucks. I'm trying to decide if its worth going for assault or AT unlock with a new acct.

My reviews then

[*] G36C (Spec ops) - Kicks ass. Lot of stopping power @ short to medium range. Not a good sniping gun though.
[*] M95 (Sniper) - Don't waste your time with it. Less accurate than the M24 and doesn't do any more damage.
[*] G3 (Assault) - Powerful, but lack of grenade launcher and 20 round magazine may be a turn off to some.
[*] PKM (Support) - Powerful, but not many play support often enough for it to be worth unlocking. Lacks accuracy.
[*] Jackhammer (Engineer) - Powerful, but extremely short range limits effectiveness of the weapon.
[*] L85A1 (Medic) - Accurate in single shot. Quite deadly if you take your time to line up the shots. Horrible @ full auto.
[*] DAO-12 (AT) - Very powerful. Reload takes FOREVER though.

I did the G36C first, and am going with the L85A1 next.

It all depends on what classes you play the most though.

If you think the medic gun sucks. Relax. None of the unlocked guns are over powered, just a little different. I think the consesus is the medic gun is the best of the lot. My opinion of course, I could be and very well may be wrong.

Well it doesnt suck, but the lack of power leaves me craving the assault gun. I just want a change, I realize no gun is the best but although I love the kit, I hate the gun.

I am currently working on getting the medic gun unlocked, then probably the Spec Ops.
