Unlighted Power Supplys

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but, I can't figure it out. I currently have a power supply that is lighted and it keeps me up at night (computer is bedroom). It is just too bright. Thus I am looking to get one that is unlighted. How do you know which are lighted and which are not lighted? Or if that can't be answered, how do you kill the light? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Well...you could always turn your computer off when you are trying to sleep, I would think the sound of the fans would be more annoying than the light of the fan.

As for telling whether it is lighted or not....vendors like newegg show pictures and if the supplies are lighted they usually show pictures of them lighted.

Most PSUs do not have any lights on them. If you tell us what you are powering perhaps we can suggest unlighted PSUs to you.

Why don't you save the money and just open it up and disconnect the bulb(s)???????

@Hoofan1, Thank you for the info. I dl torrents and it goes on for days so thats why it's on at night. I did not realize that vendors were showing accurate pics of the ps so I will look at that. Didn't realize it would be that simple.

@ Billb2, I did not realize I could do that. I thought they would be soldered on. I will try this before buying a new one.

most likely they are...and encased within the fan structure as well. Of course opening up your PSU voids the warranty as well

Most PSUs don't have any lights except perhaps for an LED fan or two. on some LED fans, you can get access to the LED leads and just snip them. That's the easy way. I avoid buying PSUs with LED fans as those fans are not usually top quality fans anyway. You can replace the fan with a black one, but as said above it could void the warranty and you should match the fan characteristics quite closely, so the thermal fan control will work properly.
