unlicensed software - illegal w/o separate license...?

What does that mean exactly? "illegal without separate license" I have a windows xp from the microsoft event, as well as one from my school. They are identical. I am curious about this statement thats written on my cd. I know it's not illegal because for one, I purchased it from my school, and I know damn well they wouldn't sell me something illegal. What is this separate license and who does it apply to? Thanks

The CD means nothing. For the product to be 'legal', you need a "Certificate of Authenticity" which is your actual license.

What constitutes for the COA for the software received from .NET presentation? The CD with the hologram, the sticker with the product key or the included EULA for the software? Not really worried about it but curious none the less...

That legal jargon on the .NET CD's just keeps you from selling them on Ebay... I think... I'm no lawyer.
