When I run msconfig in XP, in the startup section I find at least six boxes checked off....but absolutely no description of what they are or do. Any way to find out what gives?

1 way....try doing a search, on c: drive, all files and folders....make sure you go in advanced options in search and check hidden folders....when file is found, right click, then properties, should give you a bit more info.

Trashman...maybe I wasn't too clear. Under the startup tab, there are at least six boxes with checkmarks that have a blank line behind them....no info at all. What would I look for? I could uncheck the boxes, but I would like to know how they got there and what they are doing before I close them down. Thanks for any info...

I get you now, sorry...only thing, that would make sense is that maybe the program was un-installed, and therefore was takin out??? just a guess, but would be nice to know....I do have 1 box that was checked with no description as well....acually it ony gives its location : windows/software/currentversion.
