If I right-click on the unkown device and try to get more information there is none available. Plus, if I try to update the drivers for it through there it asks me for a cd/disk.

Here is a pic: UnknownDevice.JPG

I have been having a few stability issues and I was wondering if this may have something to do with it.

Can anyone help?

Have you tried uninstalling the device and restarting the system and letting Windows redetect it? Sometimes when you do that, it'll say "Found unknown USB device" or "Found unknown video device."

At least then you'll know what type of device it is and you can logically move from there. Right now, it's not telling you what type of device it is.

It looks like you do, but do you have the chipset and video card drivers loaded? Do you have any kind of webcams, headphones or like a VOIP modem plugged in? Try shutting down, unplugging that stuff and powering back up to see if the "unknown device" goes away.

*edit*

OR, you could just use that program John linked to. :p Nice find, John.

Thanks guys.

I am not quite sure how that program works; when I run it I see one device that has unknown next to it (PCI Standard ISA Bridge). So do I just need to find a driver for that?

Sorry for the newb questions, but I am just a little lost here. I will try the uninstall thing in the interim.

Oh and a definite  on the AOL/Kapersky, I love it. Thanks to Schadenfroh's stickied thread in software for that one :D

Edit: Just wanted to mention that I do have all my video & chipset drivers up to date. Also, I tried unplugging my headset and even the USB cord to my monitor, but there was no change.

M2N-E... the buggy mobo extraordinaire. I will give that a shot when I get home, though I thought I had installed all of the drivers from the cd already

It's part of the AIBooster package

Hmm, ok I will have to look for that.

Do you think that would be causing any of my stability problems while gaming? I can't play Q4 (error after the games introduction), and I get CTDs after playing BF2142 and FEAR Combat for a while :|

mine didn't cause any problems, it just annoyed me til i fixed it. who knows tho, it's worth a try. but yeah, you have to manually install the driver.

I saw an unknown device in Windows XP Device Manager after I updated M2N32-SLI Deluxe BIOS to 0603 and enable "AMD Live!" in BIOS menu Advanced-->CPU Configuration. What should I do to resolve this problem?

Please download and install AMD Live! patch driver from ftp://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N32-SLI%20Deluxe/AMDLive.zip to resolve the problem.

-----

if it's not that then it's probably the aibooster driver.

Ok, the AIbooster did not fix it, thanks for the tip though.

Fisher: I am trying to access the download you provided but it keeps timing out and I am getting no help from my good friend Mr. Google.

I feel like I have been dowloading drivers and patches and whatnot for days now and nothing is working to fix this or my game problems.

Someone please help!!

Thanks, KT

i copied and pasted that from the asus site, so you might want to go there and check under the support faqs for your board, maybe something got lost in translation or there's another source in the downloads section.

Yeah, I have been trying that but the Asus site is absolutely horrific. I guess I will just keep digging there.

Thanks, KT

I keep trying periodically, but I get nowhere, it just keeps timing out or not even opening at all.

Yeah, if someone could host this thing it would be greatly appreciated.

Keith,

Do you have a plain FTP download client ? ?

ftp://asus.com .... Login: anonymous / pwd: anonymous

Then navigate to this directory .. start under pub

/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N32-SLI Deluxe

The file you want is in there

If you can't get it I will email it to you (will need your email address)

Your welcome ... I suggest you install an FTP program as it is
invaluable at times for getting files ... I use WS_FTP Pro but
there are other free ones out there ... also some download
managers can do ftp ... I personally do not like using the built in
ftp downloader whichi is in most browsers ... in this case, I also
tried the link and it would not work .. but going direct into the ftp
site, was easily able to find and download it
