Unknown device found

I just reinstalled windows98
when ever i boot, it says unknown device is found,
i can't think of what it is, i installed all.
So i go to device manager, yet there is nothing , no Unknown device to install.
It only shows up during boot up.

have you checked every item under device manager? I had this message and found that there was an item under something else besides unknown device. then again, it's W98.. haha

What mobo do you have installed. If its an Intel 81x, then install the latest Intel Chipset Drivers.The "Unknown Device" in usually the "Intel Firmware Hub" which is integrated into the chipset. Its automatically installed in W2K an WinME, but 98 need drivers. Try this link: ftp://download.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/3557/inf_utlity/infinst_enu.zip
