I'm installing an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro on my Windows XP computer. I had no trouble removing the old NVIDIA card drivers, removing the NVIDIA card, and inserting the ATI card. On rebooting I used DriverCleaner to remove all vestiges of the NVIDIA drivers. Then I installed the ATI software, namely (1) WDM, (2) Display Driver for Catalyst 9 and (3) Control Panel. On restarting the computer, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" comes up 6 times (I cancel out of each one). The new video card seems to be working, but obviously I've not installed something that's needed. Can you tell me what? Thank you.

I don't have a AIW card but maybe there's some extra drivers needed for it? What version of driver is on the CDROM that came with it?

Optional software here My link is for WinXP OS.

BTW this might help .

I`m feeling in a good mood here you go,

Driver/SW install

Install the WDM drivers For AIW cards only. Do not reboot.

Install the Display drives (Catalyst). Do not reboot.

Install the Control Panel. Reboot.

On startup Windows will install all of your HW went it boots and it will take a few minutes. If you are using a non-AIW card you are done. For AIW users, there are two more setps:

Install the MMC SW. Reboot.

Install the MMC DVD Decoder SW. Reboot

On restarting the computer, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" comes up 6 times (I cancel out of each one).

Those are the Rage Theater WDM drivers, when you run the WDM setup, it waits untill the reboot to install them (they need the ATI driver installed first) You should let them install automatically in order to use the multimedia features.

hint...read the install tips and readme files, especially with an AIW. Obviously you don't have MMC, guide plus or the remote wonder drivers installed yet either...they all depend on those WDM's being properly installed.

Doh! My stupid self downloaded the Windows 98 drivers when I meant to download the Windows XP drivers. I even put them in a folder labeled Windows XP. All is well after doing the install with the right drivers for my operating system. Even so, the responses have some great stuff in them that I think I need now that I have the drivers installed. Without your help, I wouldn't have known about these additional installs. Thanks much!

That's what this board is all about - people helping people. I visited here for some help a long time ago and I've been here ever since. IMO there's no better community on the 'net.

BTW, Mem was a big help getting my Radeon 9800 running stable in my old rig. Thanks guy! :D
