Unix functionality on Mac OS X

I understand that the newer Mac OS's are based on the unix kernal. Stupid Question, but does this mean I can unix apps like MySQL, etc. on a MAC?
 
Its a MACH kernel. And that is a stupid question, especially since MACs are different than Macs 😉

Yes, you can run MySQL and a host of other programs coded for Unix or Unix-like systems on Mac OS X.
